I like history and the building represented the best of British culture. I loved the way they have been able to preserve the history but at the same time be modern and clean. The surroundings are fantastic, the staff could not do enough to meet the needs of our party of 11. Wished we had stayed for longer
Good value for money, handy location for what we rquired on the trip. Lovely accommodation, excellent cooked breakfast, friendly, efficient staff and beutiful surroundings looking out from the conservatory.
The whole atmosphere was very pleasant. I have stayed before & will stay again
lack of seating dining places in the lounge bar. Tables being occupied for long periods by single people or couples, preventing others [me] from sitting down & enjoying a meal & drink
It is very clean and comfortable in beautiful surroundings.
Both our choices from the brasserie menu were unavailable. There was a strong smell along the ground floor corridor from reception of either dampness or dirty mops. We were very surprised.
Very friendly staff and lovely environment.
Cracked sink, tepid shower and in-room breakfast without milk and butter.
As on every visit a pleasant stay can get busy with weddings at the weekends
very helpful and accomodating reception and bar staff extremely good rate
It's setting, ambience , dinning room and bar facility. Also when the other coice is the Holiday Inn there's no contest.
Despite being a big hotel our room was v quiet as looked out onto courtyard. Staff V. friendly
Long walk to breakfest room but thats no big deal!
Had a meal at the bar when we arrived, good food at a reasonable cost.
Arrived after a 5 hour drive, was told by the girl on reception that they had a wedding on but we would not notice it!! Still awake at 1am as we could hear the music and people shouting. Went down for breakfast and told that the restaraunt was having a refit so we had to sit in the bar area, took over an hour to have toast and cooked breakfast the people on the next table gave up on waiting and walked out.
They provide Electric Vehicle (EV) charging so you can stay overnight and your car is fully charged like it is at home. That and it's a really pleasant hotel - beautiful surroundings, just off the M6 so handy for transit stays, excellent food and elegant rooms.
Mattress was odd at the edge - problem with springs? I am sure it was just in my room and will get fixed
The waiting staff in the Bar/Restaurant area were very friendly and excellent at their jobs.
Outstanding location just off m6, with excellent dining room and friendly efficient staff
I prefer a large efficient shower to a bath with shower over, but I booked the last available room in the hotel so was happy to have one at all!
Warm friendly staff, very clean.
Had Sunday lunch with family who had an anniversary but the food was not up to the high standard expected, sta ter was just warm and beef alittle tough, roast potatoes were hard but did not complain as did not wish to upset our hostsr
Could have been nice country situation if it were not for the M6. Potentially could have had a nice ambience.
The vision of the manager was not reflected in the commitment of the staff. Extractor fan did not work (surely a health and safety risk). The manager was concerned and gave us some financial concessions but we felt that that was not the point. We would have much preferred to pay full price and have things right. The fact was that the household staff went into the room regularly and it had not been noticed. Rawlplug hanging of wall - wobbly lamps (simply not screwed up properly) tatty carpet etc etc... No radio 4 available - we ended up with a filthy radio from the kitchen. Reception staff chirpy but absolutely no use when you had a problem. Attitude of staff in restaurant was markedly different when the manager was around. Tomato juice at breakfast was off (fizzy) but waitress could not have been less interested!
